Greek rock fans are in for another classic rock treat with music veterans Deep Purple stopping in Athens to appear at the Vibe Stage and then at Monastery Lazariston in Thessaloniki in July as part of the European leg of their Rapture of the Deep tour.

The band will be burning the house down when they touchdown in Greece on July 22 and 23 on the thirteenth leg of the Rapture of the Deep tour .

Ticket prices for both shows started at 40 euro and are soon to be escalated to 45 euro.

Along with the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock music.

Deep Purple’s music career spans over almost four decades. The band has gone through many line-up changes and an eight-year hiatus from 1976 until 1984.

The current line-up of band members is quite stable, although after the retirement of keyboardist Jon Lord in 2002, Ian Paice remains the only original member.

Deep Purple has also been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s loudest band.

Rapture of the Deep is a worldwide concert tour the British rockers have been playing for almost three years now.

The original shows took off in 2006 supporting the release of Deep Purple’s eighteenth studio album Rapture of the Deep.

More than 50 countries were covered in the original tour schedule, which spanned five continents.

The Rapture of the Deep tour was voted the sixth best concert tour by listeners of UK classic rock radio station Planet Rock in 2007.
