Greek police staged a protest rally in Syntagma Square in Athens to mark the 40 days since their colleague, Nectarios Savva was murdered.

The rally organised by the Pan Hellenic Federation of Police Employees and the Pan Hellenic Federation of Police Officers was said to be ‘another painful attempt to raise public awareness of the need for measures to be taken to guarantee the safety of police and police operations and to recognise the long term contribution of Greek police to society.”

They also called for police work to be acknowledged as a ‘dangerous and unhealthy’ profession, emphasising that 12 policemen have been killed on duty since 2004.
