Melbourne’s Greek radio station 3XY has been forced off-air since Thursday night as a result of damage done to their transmission mast in Werribee.

Private contractors laying drainage pipes adjacent to the mast inadvertently brought it down when they snapped a guide wire holding up the 40 metre high transmission mast.

3XY General Manager Spiros Alatsas said to NKEE that the station will be off air for at least one week as the station will need to purchase a new transmission mast from Western Australia.

Due to technical factors the station cannot use another transmission tower for broadcasting.

Station management are endeavouring to get the station back on air as soon as possible and ask that their listeners be patient.
