The new Artemission Tunnel on the Corinth-Tripolis motorway was inaugurated last week by the Environment, Town Planning and Public Works Minister George Souflias who said that by the end of August the old and the new tunnel will both be open to avoid heavy traffic on the motorway.

The old tunnel will close for maintenance and upgrade later in the year.

“The 1.4 kilometre Artemission tunnel is a landmark in the Peloponnese. It is the symbol of a new era and development for the area. It is part of the Corinth, Tripolis, Kalamata, Sparta motorway currently under construction.”

He noted that there are five motorways under construction totalling 1,417 kilometres.
