Greek-Australians are going mainly unnoticed in the literary space. I am a Greek Cypriot writer or fiction, poetry and short stories and it’s very difficult to get noticed in an industry that is still dominated by Anglos.

Luckily for me, I have a fantastic mentor, Christos Tsiolkas, who encourages and supports my work.

But I think what also holds this small group of Greek writers back, is the lack of support they receive from friends and family; most Greek parents want their children to be doctors, engineers or accountants and don’t see the Arts as a profession to make money from.
