Markos Baghdatis won the  final of the $125,000 ATP Challenger tournament in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by defeating local Denis Istomin 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

His two sets to one victory took less than an hour and a half.

Baghdatis served very well in the first set. He held his serve quite easily but failed to take advantage of seven break points to break the serve of Istomin.

However he took advantgae of  the eighth break-point to take out the first set in 37 minutes.

Istomin reversed the form in second set and won the second set 6-1 in 23 minutes.

However Baghdatis struck back with a more consistent pattern of play which saw him earn a break in the sixth games, which gave him the opportunity to win 6-3 in the third set.

The tournament victory  in Tashkent was his third for the year tafter winning two previous Challenger tournaments: Vancouver in August and more recently, San Remy in September.
