Two Greek day schools in Victoria are opening their doors to the Greek community at upcoming Open Day events.

Instead of a conventional Open Day event, St John’s Greek Orthodox College will hold a school fete on from 12 to 5pm Sunday May 16.

“As Greeks we all enjoy a party and so what we’ve tried to do is hold a St John’s college paniyiri so that people can enjoy themselves and see our facilities at the same time,” says principal John Rekouniotis.

The fete will feature student performances, rides, face painting, and food stalls.

Visitors are also encouraged to see student work and students performing science experiments in the classrooms.

For more information, contact St John’s College on 9480-5300. The college is located at 21 Railway Place West Preston.

Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College (OGOC) will hold their Open Day on Wednesday April 28 from 9am to 12pm.

There will be no special events, rather visitors will have an opportunity to see the school for what it is.

“It gives people an opportunity to see the students in action and experience what we believe is an encompassing education that the school has to offer,” says principal’s assistant Georgia Loupis.

School tours will also be conducted of the primary and secondary school, as well as the early learning centre.
