Nine Greek-Australians will be standing as candidates at the upcoming Federal election on August 21.

The Labor Party has two incumbent members in relatively safe seats.

Maria Vamvakinou is running for the northern suburban seat of Calwell in Melbourne, the seat she has held since 2001, while Steve Georganas is running for the seat of Hindmarsh in Adelaide, a seat which he has held since the 2004 election.

Helen Constas will contest the seat of Dunkley in the outer south east Melbourne, a marginal seat held by Liberal Bruce Billson since 1996.

The Liberal Party has one sitting member, Sophie Mirabella, who will be running for the seat of Indi in Gippsland Victoria, and one candidate, George Souris, for Batman in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The Australian Greens has Kymberlie Dimozantos standing as a candidate for the Victorian rural seat of Bendigo while Manny Poularas is a candidate for the Christian Democratic Party in the outer Sydney suburban seat of McMahon.

Abraham Seviloglou is running as an independent candidate for Deakin in the north west of Melbourne.

Benjamin Walsh is also running for Deakin as a candidate for the Liberal Democratic party.
