After performing the Samba, Cha Cha, Tango, Swing, and Viennese Waltz all in one night, George Houvardas took his final spin across the Dancing With The Stars ballroom last night.
“I think the further I got through the competition the more relaxed I became; I’m happy with the way I’m progressing; you can’t start worrying, you just have to go out, do your best and have a good time,” George Houvardas says.
Houvardas has hung up his dancing shoes after being eliminated from the final four in the Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) semi finals.
Speaking to Neos Kosmos last Friday the Packed to the Rafters actor said he was surprised he even made it past round five. “I think the further I got through the competition the more relaxed I became; I’m happy with the way I’m progressing; you can’t start worrying, you just have to go out, do your best and have a good time,” he said.
Houvardas was as shocked as everyone else by David Wirrpanda’s surprising withdrawal from the competition last week. “I think everyone was shocked, I totally understand where he came from…I have total respect for him because it takes a special man to make the decision he made,” he said.
Speculating on which couples would make it to the grand final to take out the inaugural DWTS trophy, Houvardas said everyone had a one in four chance. “The fact is we’re all dancing really well, we’re pretty much on par with each other, in the end I think it’ll come down to the votes,” he said.
The judges’ scores and votes from the public contribute equally to whichever couple gets eliminated each week, Houvardas said, adding that no one knows which competitors are getting the most votes. “You can’t count on all that stuff, you just have to go out and do your best and whatever happens happens,” he said.
Houvardas said he and dancing partner Luda Kroitor had a full line-up of dances for Sunday night’s show. “I’ve got the Tango this weekend, as well as a swing marathon where it’s like a knockout round which goes for almost three mintues and we also have to do a segue which is a dance made up of three dances and my three are the Viennese Waltz, the Samba and the Cha Cha,” he said.
Houvardas said he was enjoying quick-stepping between the rigorous training of DWTS and his jam-packed schedule on Channel Seven’s Packed to the Rafters. “I’m enjoying it, I’ll probably enjoy it until the end…for the past three months it’s been go, go, go, I’m just hoping after it (DWTS) finishes something else is going to come along to keep me busy and invigorated,” he said.
