Australian-British star Sam Reid (known best for his role in Anonymous), has joined the cast of Alex Proyas’ adaptation of John Milton’s epic 17th-century poem Paradise Lost, according to Variety.

The blockbuster will be directed by acclaimed Greek Australian film maker Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City). Filming will take place at Sydney’s Fox Studios. Reid will play the role of Raphael, one of a quartet of archangels made up of Lucifer (Bradley Cooper), Michael (Benjamin Walker) and Gabriel (Casey Affleck).

The most sceptical of the archangels, Raphael, warns Michael against trusting that Lucifer can in fact be redeemed. The ensemble also includes Djimon Hounsou as Abdiel) and Callan McAuliffe as Uriel. The film is due for release date of 2013.
