Not only is he a talented actor, Alex Dimitriades is a hip-happening DJ around town. He tells Neos Kosmos what’s his favourite Greek song and why?
“The Greek song that stands out the most for me is To Allo Mou Miso by Yiannis Ploutarhos. “When you hear the song you will know what I am talking about – it’s poli maggiko, it’s powerful. The message in the song, and the way he tells the story, it kills! That’s the kinda Greek music I love. “I first heard the song when I was in Greece, I heard it at the end of the trip when I was in Greece shooting The Kings of Mykonos.
We left Mykonos and I went to Athens to stay at a friends house and he was there by himself and it was just two old buddies getting quite drunk together playing music. When he played this song, I got quite emotional, to the point I got in touch with him a year down the track to find out more about the song. “There’s something about listening to Greek music in Greece, you really feel it there. I listen to Greek music here and it’s not the same, it just makes me wanna go there.”
Catch Alex as he plays the character Harry in the final episode of The Slap, tonight on ABC.
