Sunday’s X Factor UK final set tongues wagging with the first girl group ever to win the talent competition. Little Mix, who have earned a recording contract with Simon Cowell, are tipped to follow in the footsteps of The Spice Girls according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Aged between 18 and 20, the members of the quartet include Jade Thirwall, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh Anne Pinnock. The band was mentored by judge Tulisa Contostavlos, the Greek English singer-songwriter best known for being a member of hip hop group N-Dubz.

The group, whose members originally auditioned as soloists, only came together during the show’s audition process.

Little Mix overcame Marcus Collins in the finale at Wembley Arena, which included a guest performance from Coldplay.
