MasterChef George Calombaris is set to close his Kew restaurant St Katherine’s and reopen it as a second home for his successful East Brunswick venture Hellenic Republic.

In an interview with Neos Kosmos, head chef Travis McAuley – of Hellenic Republic fame – confirmed this by stating the Made Establishment partners are going to continue with their Hellenic cuisine dominance of the Melbourne market. Already they have rebranded Gazi – the home of the former Press Club -as a high end Greek street food eatery, Jimmy Grants – a Greek street food giant in Collingwood as well as Hellenic Republic.

McAuley told Neos Kosmos, not only will they be creating a second home for Hellenic Republic but that it will house an onsite pastry shop, providing customers with fresh spanakopites, tiropites and bougatsa – taking the theme of Greek street food that step further than souvlaki and patates.

* The full interview with Travis McAuley will be in the English edition of Neos Kosmos Satuday 2 November.
