The elderly will be forced to pay another $10 in rent for public housing in Victoria.
In 2009, the pension for singles was increased by $30 a week, but wasn’t counted as income when rents were determined but this will change from February this year when rent will increased by up to $9.75 a week.
A spokesman for Housing Minister Wendy Lovell said the change brought Victoria into line with other states.
