Australian cyclists Cameron Meyer and Leigh Howard are the first Aussie madison cyclists since 1998 to win the famous Berlin Six Day event, securing their place as the ones to beat after winning the last two world madison titles.

They both started the final night in fifth place but gained a lap and finished on 263 points, behind the Swiss pair on 254. This is a major win for the duo who will next compete in Melbourne at the World Track Championships from April 4 to 8.

Legendary Danny Clark, alongside Tony Doyle were the last Aussies to take out the Berlin event in 1998.
