The foundations were laid down last Sunday for the early stages of the building of the new community centre and church hall for The Transfiguration of our Lord in Thomastown, Victoria.
The blessing of the land was conducted by the Archbishop Stylianos with the assistance of Bishop Ezekiel and Bishop Iakovos. The president of the Association of Greek Orthodox Communities and Parishes of Melbourne and Victoria, Kon Kontis was presented with a golden trowel for donating the largest amount of $5000 to the church hall.
Hristina Kerasioti was presented with a silver trowel for her donation of $2500, a bronze trowel was presented to Anastasia and Evayoras Ikonomidi for their donation of $2000 and a shovel was presented to Georgia Bantounas for her donation of $2000.
