The Christos Tsiolkas novel The Slap, recently made into an eight-part television series for ABC, is one of the big contenders in this year’s 2012 TV Week Logies. Alex Dimitriades – on the back of his 2012 AACTA win – is up for Most Popular Actor for his role as Harry in the television series, alongside other main men in The Slap including: Lex Marinos (Manolis); Blake Davis (Richie); Anthony Hayes (Gary); and Jonathon LaPaglia (Hector). Melissa George (Rosie), Essie David (Anouk), Sophie Okenedo (Aisha) and Sophie Lowe (Connie) are all contenders for the Most Popular Actress for their respective roles in The Slap. George Houvardas, who plays Nick “Carbo” Karandonis in Packed To The Rafters is also nominated for Most Popular Actor Ada Nicodemou is going for gold again this year as a contender for Most Popular Actress gong for her role as Leah Baker-Patterson in Home and Away. Zoe Ventoura who played Mary Barrett in Wild Boys is also nominated for Most Popular Actress.
