It’s hard to imagine the Number 1 mobile phone vendor on the planet copping a grilling at the World’s largest mobile exhibition, but that’s exactly what Nokia experienced this week in Barcelona.

After announcing a strategic alliance with Microsoft last year to use their Windows Phone 8 operating system, the Company releases a new high-end handset with, of all things, their proprietary (and obsolete) Symbian software.

It’s a pity, because the Nokia PureView 808 mobile comes packed with great features including an eye-popping 41 megapixel camera. According to Nokia, the handset took a whopping five years to bring to market, and they were keen to get it out so they can monetise the investment before the next generation handsets started shipping in volume.

The product looks great and is well spec’d; if only it wasn’t already obsolete before it got the market!
