Greek Australian celebrity MasterChef George Calombaris is one of the 30 inspirational Australians to be selected in a new exhibition that will feature at the National Gallery of Victoria. The exhibition 30 portraits in 30 days, is an exhibition by Lucid that will see Lucid Ambassador and celebrated artist Vincent Fantauzzo paint 30 Australians in 30 days. The 30 portraits will be displayed at NGV Studio, Flinders St, Federation Square, Melbourne, 23 June to 29 July 2012.
Vincent’s artwork will generate funds to support educational programs and initiatives of Lucid – an organisation that helps people through alcohol and other drug addictions. Lucid’s mission is to dispel the myths and stigma that surround drug and alcohol addiction and replace them with a focus on helping the community face the challenges addiction poses.
Addiction is no longer other people’s issue; it’s now everybody’s issue. Most of us will know someone who has experienced it, yet outdated attitudes towards it mean that we don’t often talk about it, or don’t know how we can help. By launching exciting new initiatives such as 30 Portraits 30 Days at NGV Studio, Lucid is going to help Australia get real about substance abuse.
