Fifty paintings by award-winning artist Alexis Veroukas – a history of art graduate at Sorbonne’s Institut d’Art et Archeologie – will be exhibited at the Cyclades Gallery on Syros from August 4 to September 2.
Following upon Veroukas’ Vincti sumus show at the Greek Foundation for Culture in Berlin, the retrospective exhibition spans landmark works in the artist’s oeuvre and includes urban views of streets, houses and theatres as well as his more recent human figures which reflect states of the soul.
“There is an element of lovemaking in painting”, points out Veroukas’ teacher Leonardo Cremonini to Athens News, “because making love means experiencing intense feelings for both oneself and the other.”
