Ingredients:
Melted reduced-fat dairy spread to grease
5 large lady William apples, peeled, halved, cored
2 tablespoons caster sugar
125ml (1/2 cup) red wine (such as merlot)
1 cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
100g self-raising flour
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
2 ½ tablespoons reduced-fat dairy spread
25g (1/4 cup) rolled oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 200°C
2. Brush a round (5-cup) capacity ovenproof dish with melted dairy spread lightly grease
3. Cut each apple half into quarters
4. Place apples, caster sugar, wine, cinnamon stick and cloves in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until apple is tender.
5. Use a slotted spoon to transfer apple to prepared dish leaving liquid behind
6. Bring wine mixture to the boil over medium to high heat. Boil, uncovered, for 1-2 minutes or until reduced by half. Strain through a fine sieve over apple in prepared dish
7. Sift combined flour, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl. Use your fingertips to rub spread into flour until combined. Stir in the oats and brown sugar. Spoon crumble mixture over apple
8. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until crumble is golden brown and apple is hot
9. Remove from oven. Spoon among serving dishes and serve immediately
