Ingredients
1 kilo kataifi pastry
1/2 kilo walnuts chopped
1/2 kilo chopped almonds
3 pieces of toasted bread, crumbed
1/2 cup sugar
Cinnamon
Clove powder
1cup oil
Method:
1. In a large bowl mix the walnuts, almonds and bread crumbs
2. Put the oil in a bowl as so you can dip your fingers and pull the pastry
3. Take a small amount of pastry, a teaspoonful of the nut mixture and roll it into sausage, repeat this till all the pastry and filling has been used
4. Bake in a moderate oven for about 1/2 hour or till brown
5. Remove from dish from oven and prepare the syrup
Ingredients for syrup:
6 cups water
5 cups sugar
1 cup honey
1 cinnamon stick
Method for syrup:
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to the boil, pour over cooled rolls and allow standing to cool completely before serving
