Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has been asked to intervene and address the taxation issue that is impacting on Greek Australians.
The Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand have sent Mr Samaras a letter inviting him to personally intervene.
The letter said: “Many Greek-Australians, want to buy or possess a property in Crete or Greece, for sentimental reasons, for investments, etc. … in addition, it is known that the enhancement of trade relations between Australia and Greece is supported by the Australian State, by Greek Australian commercial entities, business councils, professional associations etc.”
The Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria held an information session on the tax issue this week.
