A Greek olive oil company has taken out a top design award for their packaging at the Dieline Package Design Awards 2013.
Athenian company agreekculture Ltd received the merit award for their innovative campaign ‘A couple of drops’, designed by acclaimed Thessaloniki design team and think-tank Beetroot Design Group.
The high end look, with the symbols of grandma and grandpa won over judges for the category Dairy, Spices, Oils, Sauces & Condiments.
The company was extremely happy with the product design, saying it fitted well with the product’s qualities and modernised it for a new audience.
“[Beetroot] interpreted the exquisite qualities of our product, as well as the history and ethos of its production, with a design that is both pure and honest but also infused with a touch of the team’s characteristic sense of humour,” agreekculture said.
The judges based their picks on quality of creativity, marketability and innovation.
Founder of Ferro Concrete and Judge in The Dieline Package Design Awards 2013, Yo Santosa, said it was a product that made a relatively unglamorous room in the house, the kitchen, quite stylish.
“(‘A couple of drops of Greek extra virgin olive oil’) is a fun, playful design that makes me happy to use olive oil. It’s a delightful way to make the kitchen a more inviting place. I admire its clever use of materials. It’s a smart creative solution that’s cute to boot,” Yo Santosa said.
The worldwide competition was hosted in San Francisco and received over 1100 entries from 61 countries around the world.
