World renowned film director and script writer of Greek descent, Alexander Payne, will be present at this year’s third annual International Film Festival of Patmos, from 24th to 31st July.

Payne, who has been honored twice with an Oscar for his screen writing skills (The Descendents, About Schmidt), will be accompanied by his close associate Greek-American director Faedon Papamichail.

Payne and Papamichail have worked together on a number of films, including Payne’s latest work Nebraska.

A number of international and domestic independent films will be shown at this year’s Festival, such as Marshall Lewy’s California Solo, Olivia Silver’s Arcadia and Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov’s Waiting for the Sea which was co-produced by Thanasis Karathanos.

Alexander Payne was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He is of Greek descent – his grandfather anglicised the last name from Papadopoulos.
