Victorian communities are being asked to nominate their local sporting volunteers, officials and clubs for the 2013 Victorian Coalition Government’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

Now in its 17th year, the award aims to support the achievements of our grassroots sporting and recreation community.

“These awards are a chance to nominate and honour the commitment and passion of people or organisations that make a real difference in their local community and embody the true spirit of sport and active recreation,” Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty said.

“I encourage as many people as possible to get their nominations in and support their local clubs and individuals.”

The 2013 Community Sport and Recreation Awards will be held at the MCG on Wednesday 4 December, and will honour individuals, teams and clubs with prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Catagories include, Community Sporting Club of the Year, Outdoor Active Recreation Initiative Award, Young Volunteer of the Year, Service to Sport and Active Recreation Award, Welcoming and Inclusive Award, Community Coach, Administrator, Referee or Official of the Year and Innovation in Facility Design Award.

Nominations close on 23 October. For further information and to submit your nomination, please go to www.sport.vic.gov.au or telephone 9208 3310.
