The Ambassador of Greece to Australia Mr Haris Dafaranos visited the Jewish Holocaust Museum in Elsternwick and met with Holocaust survivors this week. During discussions with Museum representatives, his Excellency stressed the need for all forms of racial and religious intolerance to be identified and eliminated, expressing sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the Holocaust. The Greek ambassador also went on and emphasised the intrinsic historical importance of the Jewish community of Thessaloniki to Greece, in the light of this year’s thirtieth anniversary of the Thessaloniki-Melbourne sister city relationship.
