Beatrice Howarth’s captivating talk on Cleopatra will concentrate on the rule of Egypt by the Ptolemys for 300 years and the influence of the Greek culture in Alexandria for another 600 years.

Cleopatra dreamt that with the help of the Roman generals she seduced, that she would preserve Alexander’s achievement and revive the glorious days of Hellenism. Tragically, she was the last ruler of a Hellenistic kingdom but remains one of the most celebrated female rulers of ancient times.
