Cast members Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell joined Yiorgos Lanthimos on the red carpet in London on Tuesday for a gala screening of the Greek filmmaker’s “The Lobster” at the British Film Institute Film Festival.

Starring Weisz, Farrell, John C Reilly and Lea Seydoux, “The Lobster” is set in the future, in a society where single people must find a partner in 45 days or face being transformed into animals.

Known as a representative of the so-called “weird wave” of Greek cinema, Lanthimos was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language category for “Dogtooth” in 2011.

Meanwhile, “The Lobster” earned the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Distributed by Feelgood Entertainment, “The Lobster” opens at cinema theaters across Greece and Australia on October 22.

In Melbourne it will be screened at Cinema Nova (www.cinemanova.com.au)
