A cheque for the generous sum of $10,000 has been presented to the Greek Community of Melbourne’s (GCM)Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture by the Halkidikeon Association Aristotelis O Stageritis.

Vice president Andrew Ballis and general secretary Persephone Mastrogiannis-Gkouletsas paid a visit to the newly-erected building, where they met with GCM president Bill Papastergiadis and general secretary Costas Markos.

Mr Papastergiadis took the opportunity to thank both the board and members of the Halkidikeon Association for their generosity.

An announcement about the donation was made in March, after members of the association unanimously voted to allocate the funds to the GCM at its annual general meeting earlier this year.

“It was with pleasure that the Halkidikeon Association Aristotelis O Stageritis presented a donation cheque of $10,000 to the GOCMV at the Sardella Festival held in March 2015,” said Mrs Mastrogiannis-Gkouletsas.

The board members were then given a tour of the premises and were briefed on the activities of the Cultural Centre and the GCM.
