Located in Oakleigh since 1981, Protypo Greek Centre has more than 600 children, with classes from three-year- old kindergarten to VCE.
The school population is comprised of third and fourth generation students from diverse Greek and multicultural backgrounds. Many of the school’s students come from homes where only one parent is Greek.
Protypo in Greek means ‘ahead of its time/kind’, and, doing justice to its name, the school constantly aims to re-invent and adapt the curriculum in an effort to keep its students engaged and passionate about learning Greek while achieving the highest possible academic results.
If you are seeking a community language school that stands alone in quality, innovation and dynamic change, don’t look any further.
Since 2011, a number of Protypo’s teachers have trained in brain-based teaching in San Antonio Texas. Using power teaching informed by brain research, Protypo creates dynamic, engaging and effective Greek learning environments.
Meanwhile, parents are also offered seminars on research related to bilingual brain-based learning in order to better comprehend and support their children’s learning process.
Educators have embraced iPad/iProtypo classes and an alternative pathway for high school students not sure about completing VCE. Protypo has also developed baby and toddler interactive Greek immersion sessions. This program allows both parents and babies to be immersed in a program where activities introduce, extend and enrich the vocabulary and culture of the Greek language.
In light of new brain research emerging, many experts believe that babies exposed to more than one language during their first year of life will not only have an easier time learning second languages, but also improve their listening, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
All classes for all levels are energetic, focused on speaking and include weekly dance sessions.
