To pay their respects to the fallen, members of the Hellenic RSL are invited to attend the Anzac Day March on Wednesday 25 April.
During the First World War, 330,000 Australians served, 62,000 lost their lives and 120,000 wounded. While it is a significant day for Australians and New Zealanders, marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by their forces in WW1, it’s also of great importance to the Greek Australian community, as over 80 Greek Australians served in the Australian forces, including 12 at Gallipoli.
Every year, thousands of people attend commemorative ceremonies to remember those who have served.
People who wish to travel to the march by bus are advised to meet at the RSL in South Melbourne at 10.00 am for departure at 10.30 am, to arrive at the assembly area at Flinders Street by 12 noon. The march concludes at the Shrine of Remembrance at 1.00 pm. A bus will collect and return members to the club where light refreshments will be served at 1.30 pm.
