Everything seems to be working in PAOK’s favour in the Greek Super League, as the big game in Athens between AEK and Olympiacos ended without a winner. It was a tight contest between the two teams, with AEK putting on the pressure early on and the visitors taking advantage of their better fitness levels in the second half.

Olympiacos found a goal in the 58th minute thanks to a nice exchange of passes between Fortounis and Podence and the Olympiacos skipper sent the ball into the back of the net of Barkas with a world class strike. Even though the Reds had chances to score a second and clinch the three points, the champions managed to save grace after a cross was headed home by Bakasetas in the final minute of the game.

Meanwhile, PAOK had a comfortable afternoon at home against Apollon who they beat 2-0 thanks to goals by Mauricio and Crespo. Joining them at the top of the ladder are Atromitos, who can’t seem to stop winning.

Their latest victim was PAS Giannena, overcoming them by 1-0 at home with a goal by Koulouris.

Panathinaikos continue their unbeaten run as they managed to get the draw in Tripoli against Asteras, thanks to a penalty converted into a goal by Federico Macheda in injury time.

Aris were held back due to their 1-0 loss at Nea Smyrni to Panionios. The goal was scored by Luis Gustavo.

Currently PAOK and Atromitos lead the course with 16 points apiece, followed by AEK and Olympiacos who share second with 13.

Next week the Salonica derby will take place between PAOK and Aris.
