Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas are meeting at the Australian Open tonight. Speculation has been sky high following Tsitsipas formidable victory against his childhood idol Roger Federer. It had been described as the changing of the guard.
Seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander had likened Tsitsipas to tennis great Rafael Nadal, and at tonight’s match all eyes are on Tsitsipas. Wilander told Eurosport that he believes that Nadal will be the favourite to defeat Tsitsipas.
“We are expecting hot temperatures, Nadal likes it when it’s hot because the ball bounces higher but the court is faster and Tsitsipas needs to get free points.”
Wilander said he was worried about Tsitsipas, as he believed that Nadal had watched the match with Federer and will come to the court prepared.
Nadal kicked off the mind games earlier today when he snubbed the youngster after the pair met behind the scenes.
