As part of Cultural Diversity Week the City of Moreland and in particular the highly popular Coburg Library hosted a series of events celebrating the many cultural and faith-based backgrounds which make up Moreland.

On Monday 1 April, Coburg Library hosted a ‘Greek Cultural Evening’, highlighting the large and consistent Hellenic presence within the city since the early migration, including the participation of Manasis dance school.

Dancers and musicians, dressed in traditional folk costumes presented dance and music from many regions of Greece. In addition to the dance performances, Manasis director/instructor Dimosthenis Manasis delivered an informative and engaging presentation of key historical events, details about the folk costumes being worn, and played a traditional Greek bagpipe known as the gaida.

The events culminated with a Zorba dance where Greeks and non-Greeks alike joining in the dance.
