John Tossell’s family claim that the Greek police did not check CCTV footage properly when he went missing on the Greek island of Zakynthos more than a week ago.

The Welsh pensioner from Bridgend, aged 73, did not return to the hotel where he was staying with his partner, Gillian, after going for a walk on 17 June.

Leigh Griffiths, Gillian’s 46-year-old son, told the BBC that he doesn’t believe that there are chances to find John alive.

He met the police chief when he arrived on Wednesday, 19 June, and asked if there had been any CCTV footage and was told that there were no recorded images from the morning he disappeared. He was told that cameras had been checked from 9.30-10.30am.

The missing man was on the third day of his holiday when he disappeared after going for a walk to the monastery on Mount Skopos, near Argassi village.

Emergency services have stopped searching for Mr Tossell.
