Young gun Stefanos Tsitsipas had a smooth start at the Australian Open on Monday, registering a 6-0, 6-2, 6-3 win in his clash with Italy’s 95th ranked Salvatore Caruso.
The Greek sixth seed lost just nine points in the first set and shot to victory by winning 33 of his 36 first-service points with an overall success rate of 92 per cent. He wrapped up the game in one hour and 43 minutes.
He also had fun with the crowd, later stating, “They are the ones who really bring the energy. They did come up with some new chants, but please next match I want even more.”
After breezing through this game, Tsitsipas is set to face either Philipp Kohlschreiber or Marcos Giron next.
