A study of 1,000 Brits by the Bolsover Cruise Club travel site tested foods that tourists mispronounce when abroad.
Greek street food gyros, typically made of meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie and wrapped in pita bread along with other fillings, was among the hardest food for British travellers to pronounce. It was found that 93 per cent of those surveyed could not pronounce the dish.

Other foods that Brits found difficult to pronounce included sriracha sauce, poke and even traditional UK staples such as Worcestershire sauce.
Trying new delicacies is part of the joy of travel, however the survey found that one in 10 Brits said they would refrain from ordering specific foods which they could not pronounce.
