Seven young Greek Australians were honoured as part of the Premier’s VCE Awards in Victoria.

The ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, however the list published on Victoria’s Education Ministry shed light on the achievements of the state’s high achievers.

There were a total of 307 awards given in 95 VCE subjects, with the Top All-Round VCE High Achiever Award was offered to 28 students, those who gathered a score of at least 46 (out of 50).

Among the top scorers was Dean Damevski (Konstandinos Makantassis) from Kew High School, who was also School Captain at 2019 and received a separate award for hi success in Legal Studies.

Other Greeks who received Study Awards included the following:

  • Alexander Karalis (Xavier College) in Classical Greek
  • Christina Vakkas (Melbourne Girls’ Grammar) in Classical Studies
  • Anna Pantazis (Loreto Mandeville Hall) in English
  • Artemis Moschoudi (Oakleigh Grammar) in Modern Greek
  • Michael Kantounatakis (Brighton Grammar School) in History Revolutions
  • Starshi Despotellis (Billanook College) in Music Performance (VCE VET)
