Cr Theo Zographos is a well-known face in Oakleigh and the only Greek to be contesting the area in this year’s local elections. He has often shared his views in extensive opinion articles he has written, including for Neos Kosmos. Below are four things worth knowing about him.

  • Cr Zographos is no stranger to firsts. As the youngest member of the Monash Council for the last eight years, he was the first Greek Australian to be endorsed by a major party in Oakleigh. He was also the longest serving Liberal Party member of the Monash City Council.
  • In the last elections, he was re-elected with the largest vote of 19 candidates, and he was the runner up of nine candidates to Chisholm MP Gladys Liu for preselection prior to the last federal election.
  • Cr Zographos’ connection with the community began in childhood when he was altar boy to Father Nichols Moutafis and Bishop Iakovos and served as school captain of Oakleigh Grammar.
  • He is married to Vanessa Weaver, and they wed in Santorini during the 2014 state elections.
