The best place to eat in Swansea is a van serving Greek street food, according to Tripadviser.

Alexanter Steto, 38, set up Greek Flavours by Alexanter in December 2019, but when lockdown struck a few months later, rather than drop, food sales skyrocketed.

The colourful van is parked in a residential street in Manselton and serves up fresh and authentic food to passers-by. It ranks as number one out of 531 eateries on reviews on TripAdvisor.

The majority of people who eat there, love it, with 93 of the 96 people who reviewed it describing it as excellent.

Mr Steto who came to Swansea from Athens in 2014 launched the business in the hope of travelling to food markets alongside his other job as a chef at Singleton Hospital. With events cancelled, he parked the van outside his home before driving around making home deliveries.

His most popular item on the menu is the traditional yiros, however he also makes moussaka, Greek salad and baklava.

Following the success of the van, he is in the process of opening up a takeaway shop in the Manselton area of the city.

He says part of the reason for the success of the van is that it brings back people’s memories of holidays to Greece.
