On Wednesday 28th October at noon the staff and students of St John’s College in Preston paused to remember the anniversary when the Prime Minister of Greece Ioannis Metaxas said “OXI” (No!) to an ultimatum made by Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini 80 years prior.
Students stood in their classrooms as the Greek National Anthem was played over the PA System and also had the opportunity to dress in traditional garments.

This Friday 30 October, the school will be live streaming their OXI Day Commemoration assembly via Zoom with Rev Father Evmenios.
Consul-General of Greece Dimitrios Michalopoulos will also be joining the school via Zoom as a special guest.
