The annual meeting of the Australian Federation of Pontian Associations took place on 22 November with the appointment of an executive committee for a two-year term. Simela Stamatopulos-Eleftheriadis was elected as President of the associations with Michael Iroeche as Vice President.
Mary Kolesidis and Gregory Sembelides were elected as secretaries of the group, along with members Apostoli Alexiadis, Con Xanthopoulos, Eleni Nikou, Paraskevas Totonidis, Evangelos Ageridis, Harry Navrozidis and Nic Keskinidis.
The federation was founded in 2011 and currently represents six established Australian Pontian associations. These are the Pontian Association of Whittlesea ‘Panagia Soumela’, Central Pontian Association of Melbourne & Victoria ‘Pontiaki Estia’, Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria, Pontian Association of Melbourne ‘Euxeinos Pontos’, Pontian Brotherhood of Tasmania, Pontian Brotherhood of St George WA.
