Olympiacos saw off PSV Eindhoven despite the Dutch team’s 2-1 win on its home turf on Thursday.

PSV needed to win by two goals to seal their victory to the next round, something which they were unable to achieve during their game at the Philips Stadion.

Olivier Boscagli in midfield stood in the place of suspended Ibrahim Sangare.

PSV took the lead from the 23rd minute with Eran Zahavi, heading the opener despite the danger caused by Olympiacos early on in the game.

The striker, who played a formidable game, doubled the lead just before the break with a free kick.

The Dutch team had a chance to make the score 3-0 with a near goal by Donyell Malen, however Olympiacos goalkeeper Jose Sa was able to keep the goal out and this proved crucial to the outcome.

Olympiacos played well in the beginning, however it was Kostas Fourtounis who hit the bar with a free kick.
