Greece confirmed 4,350 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with 21 of these identified at entry points to the country, the Greek National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Tuesday. The number of people on ventilators in Greek hospitals rose to 741 patients and there were 72 deaths, taking the total figure of pandemic victims to 8,017 since the crisis began.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 260,077 infections noted in Greece.
The Netherlands are planning to send 200 people on holiday to Greece, notes the BBC. Specifically the tourists will head to the island of Rhodes for an all-inclusive holiday on 12 April in an effort to see if tourism is feasible during the pandemic. The government-backed experiment has already gathered a list of 25,000 people interested in partaking in the government-backed experiment.
Meanwhile, even though the tourism season is set to officially start on 14 May, the first German tourists arrived on Crete on the last weekend of March with a flights from Germany landing at Heraklio and Chania. There were 35 tourists from Brandenburg and another 20 from Berlin.

Fifteen of the tourists reportedly arrived on the island to take place on the reality TV show called “Finding Prince Charming”, and the rest came for holidays. State broadcaster ERT reported that some of the arrivals were drawn by the prospect of purchasing real estate.
The tourists had PCR tests and were found to be negative.
They told the local press that they felt safer in Crete rather than Berlin.
