Having a played a Roman general, Russell Crowe is ready don a toga and sandals again and instead of a sword will wield bolts of lightning to play Olympian god Zeus in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe project featuring the Nordic god of thunder, Thor, played by Aussie Chris Hemsworth.

After months of speculation, Mr Crowe confirmed that he is playing the Ancient Greek god in the new Thor film “Thor: Love and Thunder”, in an interview with the LGBTQ+ radio station Joy 94.9FM.

“I am going to get on my bicycle, I’m going to ride to Disney Fox studios and around about 9.15, I shall be Zeus. It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I’m going to enjoy it” Mr Crowe said.

The news.sky.com website that Mr Crowe is appearing in a cameo role in the film starring Mr Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson with Christian Bale appearing as the villain.

The Marvel universe includes a comic-book series featuring the Olympian gods. Speculation is rife that by including Zeus in the latest Thor film, the company is intending to bring its Olympian franchise to the screen.
