A truck driver crashed into an office in Adelaide’s inner-west, narrowly avoiding a pedestrian as his vehicle veered out of control on Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton on Tuesday morning.

The driver, 73, made a lucky escape just metres from shocked workers after the light smallgoods truck that he was driving crashed into Sprout Cooking school and Health Studio, a business co-owned and operated by Greek Australian nutritionist Themis Chryssidis and food identity Callum Hann.

A pedestrian narrowly avoided being run over as the truck careened out of control.

Those who heard the truck crash on the side wall of the school came out running.

Mr Chryssidis was on his way to work and was only a few hundred metres away, lucky not to have been inside his office as it was reduced to rubble.

“I am very grateful I was running a little late this morning, but I am also very grateful my team were in the office only a minute before the truck made an abrupt entry,” he told Neos Kosmos.

The driver of the truck was shaken but unharmed.

“The truck driver was ok. The delivery company were incredibly understanding. At the end of the day everyone has been great, no one has been hurt, and we are very grateful,” said Mr Chryssidis who draws his origin from Thessaloniki and Kastellorizo.

Sprout Cooking School and Health Studio was established in 2011 as a hands-on, healthy cooking school focused on educating people around how to enjoy fresh healthy and seasonal food every day and highlighting the relationship between food and health.

A spokeswoman from Conroy Smallgoods declined to comment, but said their worker was  uninjured after the incident.

Mr Chryssidis, who was included amongst the most successful entrepreneurs under 40 years, studied dietetics in Queensland and partnered up with Callum Hann to create the company Sprout that aims to teach children and adults the role food plays in our lives through cooking classes, training seminars and educational events on health and nutrition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
