Just before 2am US Eastern Daylight Time on 24 June, the 12-storey Champlain Towers South Tower in Surfside, South Florida, partially collapsed.

Among the 159 missing people from the collapse of the 1981-built building is 21-year-old Greek expat, Andreas Yiannitsopoulos, a student at the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

His family, residents of Texas, migrated to the United States from the Greek region of Xanthi.

The young man’s father, Kostas Yiannitsopoulos, said his son was in Miami, visiting with a family friend who is also missing.
