In response to Melbourne’s fifth lockdown due to the pandemic the welfare centre of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese – District of Northcote, has further expanded its welfare outreach.

Being emboldened by the words of His Eminence Archbishop of Australia, “We have a debt to make sure no one is left alone in this crisis”, the Parish of Thomastown led by Fr George Frangos, took the initiative to expand the outreach of the Welfare Centre in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote by assisting those in need in  the centre of Melbourne.

The new outreach program was created through the existing working relationship between Fr George Frangos and David Palmer who operates a highly successful outreach program to the homeless and underprivileged in Melbourne’s CBD.  Under the direction of Archiepiscopal Vicar Fr Evmenios Vasilopoulos, volunteers from the Parish of The Transfiguration of Lord, along with Parish priest Fr George and assistant priest Fr Kyriakos have undertaken the task of organizing this important ministry and expanding it.
