Dozens of people have been arrested after a protest at Syntagma Square, Athens, against vaccine mandates for all health workers.
The protest, attended by around 7,500 protestors, spiralled into violence and Greek police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse the crowds, after a group threw flares and other objects.
The protestors waved Greek flags, some carried crosses, and chanted slogans which demanded that the government’s decision to mandate vaccinations from 1 September be reversed.

In Greece, 5.7 million people of the country’s 11-million population have been vaccinated with polls showing that most Greeks favour the mandatory jab for some frontline professions.
In Greece, cases have remained consistently high with 1,582 new cases on Sunday.
